Vander Meulen Announces Plan to Visit All MMSD Schools Over the Next Year
/MADISON—Madison Metropolitan School District board member Nicki Vander Meulen has announced her plans to begin a tour of every school within the district over the next year. The tour will focus on highlighting the best practices and features of each school.
“Each of our district’s schools has something unique to offer. During my tour I look forward to learning what staff, students, and parents believe works well in our schools. This first-hand knowledge will allow me to be a better advocate for sensible and informed policies district-wide.”
Vander Meulen also plans to spend time throughout the tour recognizing the hard work of teachers and staff across the district.
“Teachers and staff within our school are the ones who really make education possible. During this tour I not only want to hear from them about the direction of our schools, but I also want to recognize the hard work that they put in each and every day.”
Vander Meulen aims to take what she learns over the course of her tour back to the board in an effort to be a better resource for parents.
“This tour will give me the ability to provide parents with through information about the programs available to our students within our schools. I want parents, students, and staff to know that I am not just committed to being an advocate for quality schools at a Monday meeting, I am always committed to ensuring that our community provides students with the best possible educational opportunities.”
